Getting by with some help

Some help needed:

Hi friends, I've been in the midst of starting up a new student-run art space/bar/cafe called TOM. TOM is located at LASALLE's Winstedt campus but functions independently, taking zero funding from the institution.

TOM is set to open in mid August but is still missing a couple of things:

1. Carpets
2. Electric Fan
3. L brackets
4. Doormat
5. Items for the cafe (milk steamer, coffee cups, teaspoons, kitchen trays, sugar, kitchen cloths etc.)
6. Tips on how to make the best coffee and tea
7. Black paint

Please DM me if you have any of the following, you would like to know more, or can contribute in any way!

Things we managed to source from people:
  1. Coffee machine, stirrers, knockbox — from Post Museum! It’s the historic machine from their bar/gallery space in Rowell Road many years back (a space that influenced the starting of Tom)
  2. Carpet — from Bin and Ivan from Supernormal
  3. Pink flourescent light tube and case — from soft/WALL/studs
  4. Cups/Mugs — From pinch.sg ceramic studio (Ms Tricia who used to teach me sculpture when I was younger) and Michelle Kwek from NUS Museum

We also received monetary help, which was the most suprising. Two friends, one a teacher and another a curator had donated $100 each, which would help a lot in covering the initial startup costs and the cost of the first show.

Logo donated by Hanson Ho:
I didn’t know Hanson personally then. He was my favourite designer in Singapore and I had followed his work closely. Because someone shared the post asking for help, Hanson decided out of the blue to donate a logo. We had a long phone call and eventually at meetup to discuss the space and the logo. I think he wanted to help because he was curious about the Winstedt campus, and that he had grown up in the area and his kids went to school nearby.

His contribution was to have a dash and 4 spacings to the left of Tom implying that Tom has something to say:

and just like that a space is born.
